Location:

As a Studio Leader at DLR Group you will be responsible for leading and building our Education Practice. As a part of an integrated design team, you will participate in the creation of buildings that elevate the human experience through design. You will have significant resources at your disposal in order to accomplish the goals we will establish together.

Position Summary:

In this role, you will be involved in business development, responsible for managing and leading contract negotiations, educating clients on our design process, and playing a part in growing our Education studio in California. You will have direct interaction with and engage our local and national resources to pursue and deliver projects. In addition, working with a project manager, the Studio Leader is responsible for the financial health of the project. An effective Studio Leader maintains client contact for the duration of the project, supports a work environment that fosters innovation, and provides a positive responsiveness to the client’s goals and objectives.

The successful candidate will:

Be a growth agent to the Education Sector in Northern California in collaboration with other sector leaders including business development professionals.

Work closely with the Regional Sector Leader and Global Sector Leader to develop strategies to grow – staff, opportunities, brand and design excellence.

Identify new project opportunities, lead/participate in relationship building with clients to capture new work, lead/participate in RFQ process & interviews for new project opportunities

Have an appreciation and passion for leading an integrated design team.

Possess a comprehensive understanding of coordination aspects related to requirements of all design disciplines.

Ensure all DLR Group practice standards are followed during the duration of the project.

Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop and adhere to the project work plan and schedule.

Lead the contract negotiations and approve all contract changes.

Ensure timely processing of invoices and engage clients for prompt payment.

Mentor team members and participate in hiring, training, and onboarding of new staff.

Work collaboratively with Sector Leaders to ensure the financial success of the Education studio in California

Collaborate with the Regional Sector Leader and Global Sector Leader to develop our annual business plan.

Participate in in-house training activities to further develop skills and abilities.

Ability to travel as projects require.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or equivalent

10+ years of experience in a client-facing role for multiple K-12 or Community College projects

Must be eligible to work in the United States without the need for a work visa or residency sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Architecture or equivalent

Licensed Architect

10+ years of DSA, CDE, OPSC Experience
