About this Career Opportunity
We have an opportunity for a Civil Engineer to become a permanent member of our creative and friendly Property, Science, Industry, and Technology team in South Africa. You will be a key part of our wider South African multidisciplinary, collaborative team. Our projects are local and global and will allow you to work and succeed in an international, multi-cultural business environment. The role involves inter-office working, skills development, and knowledge transfer between Arup colleagues across the continent and region. You will play a part in the ever-increasing digital transformation of our business, seeking new ways to increase our efficiency through automation and to offer new services to our clients through our integrated digital approach to design. You will work as part of project teams to deliver effective and professional services to our clients. Due to our design teams' multi-disciplinary nature, you will have the opportunity to work alongside Architects, Contractors, Structural Engineers, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Surveyors, and Project Managers. The candidate should also have skills in working within a multidisciplinary engineering team and have an appreciation for the role and interactions of all engineering services required to execute a project.
Is this role right for you?
We are looking for individuals with the following skills:
Be degree qualified and committed to your own professional development, following a route to professional registration with ECSA or equivalent.
Relevant industry knowledge.
Have a strong understanding of engineering principles, and the appropriate use of technical analysis and design software packages.
Have design skills in site development, including some or all of utility and drainage design, road pavement design and layout, earthworks design, and site procurement issues.
Be up to date with the latest analysis and design software, i.e. AutoCAD, Civil3D, and BIM.
