Overview:
Reporting to the Director of Capital Markets, the Associate Director of Capital Markets will conduct capital raising activities and project analytics for Deriva Energy. You will play a leading role in capital raising activities for our growing portfolio of utility-scale wind, solar, solar plus energy storage and energy storage projects. Deriva is a leader in facilitating a rapid and sustainable energy transition by developing high-quality renewable energy projects, fostering community partnerships, while being a responsible corporate citizen and a trusted energy solutions partner. We have a high volume of transactions and are expanding the team to support significant growth.
This position will include a combination of day-to-day management of transactions, collaboration with various teams across the organization providing key support to project finance, corporate finance, and capital recycling transactions. This will be inclusive of financial modeling and analysis, structuring, engagement with capital providers (debt, tax equity, and equity), negotiation and execution of third-party financing deals including tax equity partnerships, project finance and credit facilities. Your deal-oriented mindset will enable you to craft optimal capital solutions, identify and manage diligence risks, and efficiently drive transactions to close.
This position is critical for Deriva Energy to realize the full economic expectations for its renewable projects and to support the growth plan of the business through capital recycling. We are seeking a highly motivated individual, with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Responsibilities:
Create and maintain complex project finance models to evaluate projects for various financing transactions.
Create marketing materials for originating capital markets transactions including teasers, CIMs, and managing data rooms.
Review project documentation, due diligence, and 3rd party reports including PPAs, financing term sheets and agreements, IE reports, etc., and accurately integrate assumptions into financial models.
Lead the due diligence process, including managing multiple teams - both internal and external - to respond to requests, explaining information to investors, and driving work to completion.
Own transactions across the investment lifecycle - from origination to financial modeling, board approvals, due diligence, definitive documentation, and deal closing.
Support negotiations with investors by analyzing potential economic and legal impacts of proposed terms, creating alternative proposals, and identifying the most favorable options.

Qualification - Basic:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field OR 10 years experience in lieu of a degree
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in investment banking and/or the renewable energy industry, with a focus on negotiating transaction documents, supporting diligence and modeling tax equity and debt structures
Experience in closing capital markets transactions (tax equity, project debt, corporate debt, M&A).
Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Significant experience with financial modeling.
Excellent communication, project management and team-building skills experience working with cross- functional internal and external technical advisors and stakeholders.
Qualifications - Desired:
MBA in Finance or MSA in Accounting
7 years' experience in utility-scale renewable energy finance
Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties.
CFA or CPA designation or be progressing towards CFA or CPA
Proven experience with renewable energy projects and modelling both tax equity and debt structures.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work in a flat organization, successfully leveraging the expertise of multiple colleagues in different lines of reporting.
Ability to multi-task and arbitrate between conflicting priorities
Ability to take ownership over tasks and work proactively.
Knowledge of power markets, customers and segments in North America.
Understanding of and/or ability to address concepts including, basis risk, power markets, hedging, losses, and congestion across markets.
