ESS is seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our data team and contribute to the implementation and support of a new data lakehouse. The ideal candidate is an experienced data engineer with a strong background in data engineering, an innovative mindset, and a passion for delivering high-quality software solutions.
What you’ll do at ESS
Design, develop, and implement a data lakehouse on a cloud data platform.
Contribute to all phases of the development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and maintenance.
Develop and maintain documentation, including design specifications, data dictionaries, technical documentation, and potentially, user manuals.
Design and implement ETL to move data from systems-of-record to the data lake.
Contribute to the review and selection of 3rd-party tools to be used in the solution.
Diagnose and resolve software configuration and coding issues in a timely manner.
Collaborate with team members to conduct design reviews and ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices.
Participate in regular team meetings to provide updates on project status and discuss technical challenges and solutions.
What You Bring to the Table
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of professional data engineering, database development, or database management experience.
Proficiency in MS SQL, Oracle DBMS, or similar relational database system.
Proficiency in at least one ETL tool, preference given to SSIS experience.
Proficiency in database design and data modeling.
Experience with data warehouse, data lake, or data lakehouse technologies.
Experience with Git or similar version control systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
We’d Love To See: Cloud-based data lake or data lakehouse experience.
Data analysis or report generation.

AVEVA PI Asset Framework.
Familiarity with Oracle ERP APIs.
Familiarity with energy storage systems or renewable energy technologies.
