Job Summary:This position is responsible for assisting programming, operating andmaintaining the District Building Automation Systems to include HVAC andsecurity systems. This position provides technical support for shop computersand operating systems, provides diagnostic support for intercom, firealarm, security, HVAC and electrical systems, recommends, installs,operates and modifies District HVAC mechanical, electrical, commercialkitchen and electronic door control systems and analyses reports to takecorrective action with all Building Automation Control systems. This positionalso serves as a lead among HVAC mechanics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates and maintains the District's HVAC, HVAC controls, andelectrical systems.Performs and oversees recurring preventative maintenance on District HVAC,refrigeration and computer systems.Investigate and analyze problems with pneumatic, electric, and directdigital controls.Estimates material and labor costs for repair or installation projects.Assists and cross trains in other trades (fire alarm systems, securitysystems, door hardware systems).Perform annual maintenance on all District HVAC equipment. Perform regularfacilities safety inspections.Responsible for training and guiding the HVAC mechanics in day to dayresponsibilities.Maintain all District heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipmentand systems. Perform emergency repairs as needed.Develop, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance programs for allDistrict HVAC equipment and systems.Perform electrical repairs on motors and controls used in HVAC systems. Repairor replace electric motors and controls used in HVAC systems.Maintain, inspect, analyze, and repair flame safeguard systems onboilers and roof-mounted gas fired heating equipment.Install upgrades to equipment and systems to maximize efficiency and safety.Cut, bend, thread, ream, assemble, caulk, solder, and weldvarious pipes, metal fittings, and joints.Inspect, supervise, and approve contract work to ensure compliance withbuilding codes, safety codes, and accepted industry practices.Replace pump seals, motors, tube bundles, etc.Performs hand and bench work utilizing power tools and shop equipment.Recommends and supports equipment and supply purchases.Coordinates projects with other trades.Performs other duties as assigned.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential duty satisfactorily. Education, Training and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent, plus specialized courses in HVAC, HVACcontrols, plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration. Forklift safety training.Over three years of experience in the repair and maintenance of HVAC, andHVAC controls systems.One year experience in programming HVAC controls.Experience in refrigeration, low voltage electrical, and plumbing systemspreferred.Mech 4 required. EPA certification as required by 40 CFR, Part 82, SubpartF required. Electrical Journeyman license preferred.Advanced knowledge of HVAC controls systems, computers, and programmingHVAC controls.Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration equipment.Operating knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, tradestandards, systems, and controls.Ability to operate various hand and power tools.Valid Colorado driver's license required at time of hire.Criminal background check and Dist ict fingerprinting required.Application Procedure:Apply online at www.hsd2.org to complete an online application.
