GIS Specialist

We are looking for a motivated GIS Specialist with analytical, coding and/or scripting experience to join our team full-time this summer to provide support on various GIS related projects. An ideal candidate would be passionate about GIS technologies and able to think outside the box to devise creative solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities
(Including, but are not limited to)
Capable of doing all kinds of analytical work with little to no guidance
Assembles and formats complex and non-standard reports from company GIS system for electric-related tasks.
Make equipment recommendations; troubleshoot hardware, software, and outlying problems.
Effectively participate in GIS application programming and testing activities.
Develop and maintain appropriate documentation.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Ideal candidate would have the following skills and proficiencies:
Intermediate level knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS (desktop, extensions, online, portal, applications) and Excel
Experience developing, designing, and implementing systems and databases to access and store geospatial data
GIS compatible scripting (Python, VBScript, Arcade)
Experience working with MS Office Suite
Experience utility industry and its terminology is a strong plus
Experience working within a utility industry distribution and/or transmission program is a strong plus
The ability to lead on some projects
Spatial Analysis Experience

Ability to adapt to new GIS software.
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, or related field preferred. Exceptions may be made for remarkable candidates.
Minimum of three years of actual work experience in GIS with progressively responsible experience in the design and development of GIS systems and applications.
Location: Prefer candidate in the Charlotte, North Carolina area, but will consider remote candidates.
