City of Chicopee Senior Engineer Chicopee , Massachusetts Apply Now Senior Engineer (See the City of Chicopee website for complete jobdescription) Position Title: Senior Engineer Department: DPW -Engineering Employment Status UFCW Admin, Non-Exempt; Full-Time Salary:Grade A12, Step 1, \$29.60 per hour Certifications/Licenses: ValidDriver\'s License (Required), SUMMARY The City of Chicopee\'s Departmentof Public Works - Engineering Division is hiring a Senior Engineer thatperforms a professional engineering and administrative position. Thisposition requires strong Engineering skills and personnel management inthe office as well as in the field. The Senior Engineer Aide isresponsible for managing citywide infrastructure construction programsconsisting of coordinating efforts with contractors, developers, City /State / Federal Departments, and private utilities; determines ifconstruction workmanship is within specification\'s tolerance byinspecting contract plans and specifications on construction projectssuch as highways, buildings, sewers, and drains; designs in-houseprojects for highways, site-work, utilities, and various otherinfrastructure improvements complete with plans, specifications, andcost estimate, all in accordance with sound engineering principles andpractice within City and State standards. QUALIFICATIONS To be minimallyqualified for this position, one must meet the following criteria:Massachusetts Class D Driver\'s License (required) Strong Writing Skills(required) Bachelor\'s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely relateddiscipline (required) with three years\' experience and progressiveresponsibility in public works operation, construction, engineering, ora closely related field. Minimum of Associates Degree in Science and aminimum of five years\' experience in engineering and design of roadsand stormwater systems may be considered. Knowledge of basicmathematics, elementary algebra, and plane geometry. Knowledge of theprinciples and practices of intermediate to advanced engineering fieldsurveying. Knowledge of the types and uses of equipment used inengineering field surveying. Advanced knowledge of terminology, symbols,codes, and standard abbreviations used in civil engineering work.Ability to code and arrange data according to a given order orprocedure. Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical literature,laws, rules, regulations, descriptions, blueprints, plot plans,topographic maps, etc., related to Civil Engineering. Ability to useappropriate formulae used in determining exact locations andmeasurements (lines, grades, areas, etc.). Ability to interpret andapply written instructions. Knowledge of OSHA regulations andrequirements. Demonstrated working knowledge of pertinent Federal andState regulations. Knowledge of public bidding rules; preparing of bidpackages to include product specifications and bid review. Demonstratedworking knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, HydroCAD, GIS, PermitEyes, Word,and Excel software. Knowledge of metal detectors, measuring tape, surveyequipment, and various drafting equipment and techniques.
