Job Description

The purpose of this position is to manage the delinquent loan portfolio andpersonnel up to and including; loan/share collections, real estatecollections, foreclosure activity, charge-off collections, repossessionactivity, remarketing, bankruptcy, credit reporting, and probate. Theposition will also identify trends and report on elements of risk includingdelinquency, bankruptcy, repossessions, foreclosures, and liquidationof assets. Overseeing both delinquency and loan review this role will assistLeadership in effectively managing credit risk.

Essential FunctionsManagement of the Collections and Member Solutions functions: Managedelinquent mortgage, consumer loan, and negative sharecollections--Oversee daily operations, including workflow, quantity, andquality of accounts worked. Provide leadership, training, mentoring,coaching, performance evaluation, and advancement / salaryrecommendations. Review, track, and audit the disposition of repossessedand foreclosed collateral. Monitor for CFPB, NCUA, Credit Reporting, andapplicable State and Federal Law compliance, in addition to Conventional andGovernment loan guideline adherence. Ensure the department is up to date withDisaster Recovery and Business Continuity procedures. Create monthly,quarterly, and annual financial reports related to Collections,Repossessions, Charge Off's, and Bankruptcy. Reduce loan losses, andenhance the financial position of the credit union. Ensure the volume ofrepossessed and foreclosed collateral is maintained at a manageable level.Review Policies and Procedures quarterly to ensure they are up-to-date andthat the organization is in compliance with the latest rules and regulations.Prepare the department for a less manual approach to collections, bypositioning the department for increased use of technology and automatedprocesses. Preparation of related areas for an increase in delinquency byusingStaff Development / Alignment: Provide direction and inspiration forteam-assigned tasks. Set goals with direct reports and help drive alignmentwith corporate strategic initiatives. Provides individual guidance andfeedback through regular performance evaluations. Maintain a positivecollections staff and recognize accomplishments by pursuing properproblem-resolution techniques. Provide training to collectors to identifycounseling opportunities using production reports and call logs. Initiate andmove forward any technological advances that benefit the department and theorganization.Manage Legal Desk for Recovery Collections: Support internal staff byproviding guidance on accounts recommended/approved for legal(collection) action. Identify new business engagements with outsidecounsel and collaborate with internal counsel to ensure engagement is vetted.Act as the credit union's recovery collections subject matter expert andattend to related legal matters upon request.Bank Secrecy Act: Remains cognizant of and adheres to Ent policies andprocedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act.

Qualifications

Minimum Formal Qualifications for this Position:Bachelor's Degree in business or a related field.8+ years' combined financial services experience with a focus onCollections, Foreclosure, Bankruptcy, and/or Repossession.5+ years' supervisory experience.4+ years' supervisory experience in a Collections capacity. PreferredEach year of relevant work experience may be exchanged for a year in arelevant degree program or vice versa. For example, a requirement of abachelor's degree in accounting and 2+ years of account experience couldbe substituted for a high school diploma and 6 years of relevant accountingwork experience or a master's degree in accounting and 0 years of workexperien
