The Automotive Service Advisor serves as the primary point of contact for customers seeking automotive maintenance and repair services. This role involves assessing customer needs, recommending appropriate services, and coordinating with technicians to ensure timely and accurate completion of work. The Service Advisor plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service and maximizing revenue opportunities for the automotive service department.
Key Responsibilities :
Customer Interaction :
Greet customers in a courteous and professional manner.
Listen to customer concerns and accurately document vehicle symptoms.
Provide recommendations for maintenance and repair services based on customer needs, vehicle condition, and manufacturer guidelines.
Explain service options, estimated costs, and timelines to customers in a clear and understandable manner.
Address any questions or concerns raised by customers and strive to exceed their expectations.
Service Coordination :
Schedule service appointments and manage the service bay workflow to optimize efficiency.
Coordinate with technicians to ensure timely diagnosis and repair of vehicles.
Communicate with customers regarding the status of their vehicles, including any additional work or delays that may arise.
Obtain necessary approvals from customers for recommended repairs and maintenance.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
Create and maintain accurate service records for each customer visit, including vehicle information, services performed, and parts used.
Ensure all service and repair orders are properly documented and filed according to dealership or service center procedures.
Review warranty coverage and process warranty claims as needed.
Sales and Revenue Generation:
Identify upselling opportunities for additional services, accessories, or maintenance packages.
Promote service specials, discounts, and loyalty programs to customers.
Provide quotes for services and generate invoices for completed work.
Meet or exceed established sales targets and objectives.
Technical Knowledge and Training:
Stay updated on automotive industry trends, service procedures, and manufacturer specifications.
Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance product knowledge and customer service skills.
Collaborate with technicians and service managers to resolve technical issues and improve service quality.
Working Conditions:
The Automotive Service Advisor typically works in an indoor office environment within an automotive service department or dealership. The role involves frequent interaction with customers, technicians, and other service department personnel. Service Advisors may be required to stand or walk for extended periods The position typically involves full-time work during regular business hours, with occasional overtime and weekend shifts as needed.
Requirements
CDK/ADP Experience
Proven track record of excellent customer satisfaction
Confident ability to operate with little supervision
