Position Overview:
This position can be based in Global Atlantic’s New York or Boston office location.
The Investment Operations strategy management is a critical new responsibility that partners with leadership across the Investments organization as well as Accounting and Finance, Technology and other teams to solve our Investment organization’s most critical strategic issues.
The team's remit spans Three core pillars
Data ownership and Liaison.
Strategic implementation of Front-2-Back cross asset architecture.
Ownership of the program management function across the division.
As part of Data ownership, this role will partner closely with and on behalf of Investments stakeholders including portfolio managers, asset allocation, structuring and Investment analytics functions. This individual will understand core business concepts, identify and oversee data assets, develop business glossaries, and coordinate across the entire Global Atlantic organization (including IT, Operations, Accounting / Finance, Analytics, and Regulatory teams) to help centralize and drive our Investments data strategy forward.
As a member of the Global Atlantic data governance community, you are responsible for managing and ensuring the quality and accountability of Investment data assets including reference data, ratings, KPIs, reports applications, and partnering with business and technical functions to onboard asset level data to our enterprise data hub using established tools, automation and processes to ensure the overall fitness of our data.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for driving design and implementation of Strategic Infrastructure with Technology and Investment teams, for a complex set of asset classes including hard assets and derivatives.
Oversee the Program Management team dedicated towards executing Operational transformation programs.
Primary responsibility for Investments data and information strategy and control, including owning the Investments data life cycle and closely coordinating with key stakeholders within the Investments Office and across the organization including IT, Operations, Accounting / Finance, Analytics, and Regulatory teams on components of data use and maintenance
Quickly develop the business and product knowledge required to support the Investment function and related governance activities of GA’s $150bn+ portfolio with a strategy primarily focused on high quality fixed income assets; manage data-related reporting considerations such as STAT and GAAP
Manage the Investments data lineage across all upstream and downstream systems and various data sources; oversee and dictate data flows to consumers including third-party applications and vendors
Work cross-functionally to ensure data best practices are designed and implemented proactively and that Investments data is accessible with appropriate channels of access controls; support data dictionary & definition cataloguing, including incorporating enterprise data domains and elements as required and providing security and trade activity support
Act as primary business owner of reference data on behalf of Investments including ratings and asset hierarchies (both internal and external) associated with the assets that GA holds; facilitate how ratings are fed for Investments use
Establish control guidelines and protocols that govern the proliferation of data to ensure that data controls are enforced
Develop a deep understanding and alignment to GA’s existing data governance framework and policy requirements
Oversee hands-on development of data assets in GA’s proprietary enterprise data catalog
Qualifications:
Minimum 15 years’ experience in Strategy implementation, Operations transformation, project management, asset management / investments, reinsurance or related area
Experience with data analysis, data documentation, data quality monitoring and improvement
Familiar with data governance concepts and have been involved in data governance roll-outs in the past
Experience working within investment teams and understanding how value and projections are generated within the applicable asset classes
Demonstrated track record and hands-on experience in data management/data stewardship areas, including use of Collibra or other data profiling and curation tools
Strong understanding of the organization’s needs in a high-growth and complex environment and ability to drive change
Strong leadership and communication skills as well as the ability to influence key decision-makers and understand their points of view
Must be able to work effectively both on teams as well as be self-motivated, task oriented, and organized
Understanding of data concepts, including data design and modelling, as well as SQL, BI tools (Excel, Tableau, Looker, or Power BI) and Big data.
Familiarity with insurance industry and related regulatory considerations a plus
Working knowledge of Python, R, or VBA is a plus
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science or related field
