Job Description:

What is the Role?

The Marine Chief Engineer is part of the operations team that supports FPSO Turritella – Stones Walker Ridge asset. The role reports to Offshore Installation Manager when FPSO is connected, Marine Master when FPSO is disconnected. Onshore, the role works closely with the Marine Technical Superintendent.

As the Marine Chief Engineer, you will be accountable of the following:

Operating and maintaining the Engine Room and all marine diesel engines, boilers, and auxiliary machinery throughout the FPSO unit.

Operating and maintaining the cargo/ballast system, hull, and accommodations.

Ensuring all FPSO machinery and equipment are working in an efficient manner to support safe operation and navigation of the FPSO, including the cargo/ballast system, hull, and accommodations.

Maintaining engine room systems to meet class and state requirements.

Carrying out all duties while complying with the rules and regulations established by the flag state administration, IMO, and port state authorities.

Planned and unplanned maintenance for marine rotating and non-rotating machinery.

Assuming the role and responsibilities of Chief Engineer of the vessel during periods when the Turritella is disconnected from its mooring buoy.

Supervising ER staff to deliver Operational Excellence, compliance with the Operations Management System (OMS), and involved commitment by Marine Maintenance department.

Looking after the safety of maritime professionals working in the engine room.

Maintaining proper conduct with crew members and addressing their queries and requirements to the extent possible.

The role will also be responsible for:

Inspecting and maintaining essential marine machinery according to the CMMS.

Monitoring condition and maintaining and repairing vessel and process systems.

Managing parts control, inventories storage record keeping, shipping, and receiving using SAP.

Effectively supervising project, subcontract, and vendor personnel.

Operating and controlling all boiler automation and manual gas/fuel firing features, all auxiliary and electrical machinery, pumps, compressors, generators and turbines, firefighting, and safety systems.

Ensuring correct operation of hull cathodic protection equipment and complete log reports, boilers, and water analysis, including submitting log reports, and all treatment for cooling water systems.

Organizing sampling and testing of all lubrication oils and boiler water treatment.

Maintaining records of all marine maintenance routines and breakdown.

Preparing Engine Room plant and systems for start-up, including vessel utility systems sourced from ER.

Starting and monitoring Engine Room plant and systems, including vessel utility systems sourced from ER.

Preparing and shutting down Engine Room plant and systems, including vessel utility systems sourced from ER.

Isolating and reinstating Engine Room plant and systems for maintenance, including vessel utility systems sourced from ER.

Maintaining the Oil Record Book, catalogs, drawings, and all marine technical publications as required by regulations.

Preparing lists of work required for future repairs and turn-around maintenance of marine systems of the FPSO.

Conducting any investigations into accidents, incidents, or as directed by the FPSO management team.

Writing procedures for all aspects of work performed in the department.

Ensuring timely and effective closeout of survey and relevant audit actions.

Ensuring change management procedures are applied appropriately.

Ensuring full compliance with the PTW system and risk assessment and verification.

Having a complete understanding of all OMS, engineering drawings and technical manuals, piping and instrument diagrams, and flow charts.

Assessing the performance of each individual in the department, determining and implementing necessary training to meet any shortfalls in performance or experience, and making personnel appraisals as directed.

Managing the operation of the vessel systems at the department level through supervisors and subordinate staff.

Managing welfare and disciplinary issues at the departmental level with appropriate reference to OIM and HR.

Maintaining every operation and activity in log and record books that state the compliance of the system.

Managing operations in conjunction with all department heads to maximize efficiency and uptime.

Maintaining effective cost control and promoting cost awareness in others.

Demonstrating knowledge and awareness of emergency response techniques through exercises and scenarios.

Demonstrating knowledge of the potential impact of incidents and scenarios on vessel safety and security.

Managing all oil transfer operations carried out in ER, including bunkering.

Managing implementation of SOPEP and other equipment involved with the same.

Ensuring all rules and regulation related to MARPOL are applied and implemented.

Sampling and checking that controlled discharges from area of responsibility to the environment are within prescribed limits.

Identifying and halting unplanned discharges where possible and reporting immediately according to policy, procedure, and regulation.

Ensuring that equipment, waste, and other materials for disposal are dealt with according to the correct procedure.

Managing deliveries as HSSE Barrier holder as per STONES HSE case.

Skills & Requirements

What we need from you -

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

At least Higher secondary college or equivalent is required.

Minimum of 24 months sea time in rank.

Minimum of 5 years sea service on tankers, with a minimum of 2 years on crude carriers (steam systems).

Adequate knowledge and experience of offshore FPSO marine operations (preferred).

Supervisory experience in risk assessment, permit to work, and mechanical/electrical isolation standards.

Experience in and knowledge of safety management in hydrocarbon processing operations.

Minimum Regulatory Certification required (kindly indicate in your resume if you have the following):

COC CE Unlimited - STCW III/2.

Specialized Tanker Training - STCW v/1-1-2 Advance Oil Tanker Operations.

Proven leadership skills.

Demonstrated commitment to learning and improving own personal leadership and effectiveness and a passion for and competency in coaching and mentoring.

Team-based organizational skills, creating a culture of learning and commitment to high performance, diversity and inclusiveness.

Demonstrated ability to network and work well with other leaders.
