Job Description
This position provides on-site emergency medical services, preventive health care and employee counseling. The incumbent is responsible for conducting, administering, and coordinating medical activities for employees and/or visitors as needed. This incumbent will support and comply with safety principles and procedures for the promotion, restoration, and maintenance of the health and safety of the employees. This incumbent will be the case manager for all employee leaves of absence (disability, worker’s compensation, FMLA, etc.). The incumbent will also provide treatment, scheduling mandatory medical testing, and arranging safety and health programs.
Responsible for sites in NJ, PA, and MA but will be based in NJ
Provide emergency care or evaluation to employees/visitors as needed and direct treatment, when necessary, which may include reporting blood pressure, dispensing medications, or other pertinent care.
Responsible for counseling employees regarding medical problems and refers them to appropriate physicians and/or agencies to address on non-work-related ailments.
Responsible for administering and managing employee disability and leave claims in accordance with Federal and State Regulations.
Manage all Federal, State, and company policies regarding rights to employee leaves and accommodations (FMLA, ADA, EAP, etc.)
Case management of worker compensation injuries and illness including activities associated with restricted duty or lost time
Improves the plant's health, safety, and medical disposition by giving first aid instructions and participating in Safety Committee meetings and ergonomic meetings.
Perform pre-employment testing and annual platinum skin testing, and pulmonary function tests on those employees that are required to be tested.
Arrange pre-employment and routine physical exams
Provide medical orientation to new employees
Perform annual respirator fit test, pulmonary function test and respirator questionnaires in accordance with OSHA regulations
Arrange and monitor annual vision testing as required
Administer BBP Program in accordance with OSHA regulations
Responsible for arranging CPR, AED, First Aid and B.B.P. training for First Response teams
Case management of worker compensation injuries and illness including activities associated with restricted duty or lost time
Process and coordinate disability claims with insurance carrier, and report progress to management.
Maintain employee medical records, OSHA logs and accident and injury records.
Responsible for weekly, monthly, and annual reports regarding work related illness/injuries, disabilities, etc.
Create and implement employee wellness programs, safety shoe and eye glass programs.
Responsible for maintaining the Dispensary, including purchase of medical and safety equipment.
Other duties as necessary
Qualifications
B.S. Degree in Nursing with a valid NJ/PA /MA RN license (at least one and in good standing to apply for others)
Three to five years of experience as an Occupational or Training Nurse; preferred manufacturing experience
Experience with case management of all types of employee leaves of absence
Certification in Pulmonary function testing required.
Knowledge of disability and worker's compensation laws and OSHA regulations.
Knowledge of ADA, FMLA, and EAP
Must be computer literate and have a working knowledge of Microsoft programs, e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Extremely high organizational skills.
Must be flexible, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
