Job Description Education Programs Consultants (EPCs) with expertise in a wide variety of education areas are needed to analyze, plan, develop, administer, and evaluate educational programs in California's schools. EPCs serve as departmental spokespersons, and as consultants to local, state, federal, public, and/or private school officials in either general or special curricula and instructional program planning. They help develop new education programs designed to improve educational outcomes in public schools. EPCs interpret statistical and anecdotal data in an educational area; develop educational program recommendations and implementation strategies; generate policy alternatives for management decision making; assist external agencies or networks of people engaged in educational program improvement efforts; monitor educational projects and/or improvement efforts and prepare and present documents on sensitive policy issues for a variety of constituent groups or individuals. EPCs typically work within a program unit and may have statewide or regional program responsibility. They may also provide leadership and training to employees at the level of Education Programs Assistant.
