Job Summary

The Coordinator of Special Programs for Experiential Learning at the University Career Center is essential for coordinating our experiential learning initiatives. This role involves the coordination and logistics of programs, such as employer site visits, job shadowing, and industry competitions, to streamline operations and improve program effectiveness. The Coordinator is also pivotal in developing partnerships with employers, engaging with various stakeholders, and contributing to the strategic mission of preparing our students for successful careers.

Minimum Education and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in related field.

– 3-5 years experience providing support to programs or projects or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

Education: Master’s degree in Higher Education, Human Resources, or a related field.

Experience: Prior experience in higher education programs, especially those focusing on experiential learning, student affairs, or career development, is highly desirable.

Experience in early career talent recruitment, including engagement with college-level students and recent graduates, will be particularly valued.

Skills and Competencies:

Strong organizational and strategic planning abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with educational institutions, students, and employers.

Proficiency in managing multiple projects simultaneously with high attention to detail.

Experience in partnership development and stakeholder engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Building and facilitating partnerships with employers to enhance experiential learning opportunities for students and align programs with career readiness initiatives.

Managing the logistics and coordination of several large programs, such as employer site visits (Comet Treks), to ensure a seamless and impactful experience for both students and employers.

Organizing and overseeing competition events in collaboration with employers, including challenges, hackathons, and other industry-focused competitions, to showcase student talent and foster engagement with industry partners.

Developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies for all experiential learning events, effectively promoting participation among students and employers while enhancing the visibility and reputation of the programs.

Assisting in managing internship abroad programs and initiatives.

Managing the Explore the WoW (World of Work) externship program including marketing, employer outreach, program assessment, and the website

Working with local, state and national employers to develop relationships and improve access to internship opportunities for students, coordinating outreach efforts with Employer Relations staff.

Assisting in managing the on-campus internship program, collaborating with Student Employment, HR, Payroll, academic internship coordinators and hiring departments to ensure policies and procedures are followed

Providing students and faculty with information regarding the internship process as needed

Assisting with the academic internship review and approval process as needed

Other duties as assigned

Additional Information

After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote/partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval. Must be located within the DFW Area and have the ability to be on campus with 24 hours of notice. A UT Dallas Remote Work Agreement will be required within 14 days after approval.
