Construction Estimator/Project Manager – Masonry Restoration and Construction

We are a well-established and reputable commercial masonry restoration and construction company with a strong track record of delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Construction Estimator/Project Manager to join our team and contribute to continued success.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience estimating preconstruction take-offs and experience managing commercial and/or municipal construction projects.

As a Construction Estimator/Project Manager, you will play a crucial role in the project planning, development, and production processes. You will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs of materials and labor associated with construction projects, from initial concept and final bid to work completion, ensuring that projects are financially viable and competitive in the market.

If you have diverse experience in municipal, commercial, and light-industrial projects, you're creative and a “think outside of the box” type person, this is the role for you!

Construction Estimator/Project Manager Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Engineering is preferred.

· Equivalent work experience may be substituted and encouraged.

· Minimum of 5 years of preconstruction estimating experience on municipal and commercial construction projects.

· Must be able to manage multiple projects, create and maintain project budgets, prioritize effectively, and recognize and address work related issues as they occur.

· Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints.

· Must have strong computer skills, including the ability to use estimating software, bid management, online plan rooms, and database applications.

· Demonstrated effective verbal, written, organizational, and presentation skills.

· Fluency in the Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Projects.

· Estimating and/or Construction Management Education would be considered an asset.

· Ability to speak and engage with different personalities.

· Ability to develop and maintain trusting relationships at all levels of the organization.

· Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.

· Attention to detail and accuracy.

· Familiarity with local building codes and regulations (preferred).

· Able to pass a drug screen and a background check.

Construction Estimator/Project Manager Responsibilities

· Project Analysis: Conduct thorough reviews of project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand project requirements and scope.

· Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services using industry-standard estimating software and methodologies.

· Vendor and Supplier Management: Maintain relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing and up-to-date information on materials and services.

· Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive and competitive bid proposals, ensuring that all cost components are accounted for, and bids are submitted on time.

· Value Engineering: Collaborate with the project team to identify cost-saving and value engineering opportunities without compromising project quality.

· Risk Assessment: Identify and evaluate potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and develop contingency plans as necessary.

· Cost Tracking: Assist in the development of project budgets and track actual project costs against estimates throughout the project lifecycle.

· Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all estimates, bids, and project-related documentation for future reference and analysis.

· Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.

· Prepare project clarifications and bid assumptions for submission to owners.

· Prepare and present budget presentations to owners and architects.

· Build effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support the company core values and meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations.

· Manage bids from vendors and contractors.

· Maintain trades lists.

· Maintain administrative reports and files.

· Ensure that all cost sheets are up to date and relevant.

· Keep up to date information and knowing new products on the market.

· Understanding of construction terms, scheduling and planning concepts.
