Global Practice Director | Mission Critical

HKS is seeking a Global Practice Director to lead our Mission Criticalpractice.
Responsible for setting the overall strategy of the practice in conjunctionwith the Global Sector Director and with input from the Practice Leaders,Studio Leaders, Office Directors, and Regional Directors. The role is alsoresponsible for developing and maintaining systems and processes within theglobal practice to ensure quality and consistency of designs and theintegration and leveraging of other HKS resources.
Responsibilities:Leads strategic planning for the practice in conjunction with respectiveGlobal Sector Director and facilitates communication for the practice withStudio Leaders, Office Directors and Regional Directors, such as vettingsector marketing strategy and allocating needed resourcesCoordinates the practice's development of Objectives and Key Results(OKRs) in advance of the budgeting process and is responsible for theachievement of those OKRs throughout the yearProvides counsel and support to Studio Leaders, Office Directors andRegional Directors related to resource expenditures, personnel matters forthe practiceWhen needed, establishes action plan for any corrective measures with studioleaders, Office Directors and Regional DirectorsAdvises on recruiting, staffing, utilization, and growth managementacross the practice, including recommending adjustments where necessary andreviewing all personnel changes in conjunction with Regional Directors andOffice DirectorsCollaborates on implementation of firmwide initiatives across the practice,including but not limited to being a champion for J.E.D.I., Research,Enterprise strategies, Top ProjectsActively supports integration of HKS services, expertise and innovation inall projects, while actively seeking opportunities to incorporate HKS bestpractices, sustainable design solutions, subject matter expertise andresources strategically and efficiently for the client, users, and communityActive on projects as required by relationships but should work to maintain abroader strategic view of the entire practice supporting studio leaders todeliver quality projects on behalf of the practiceActs as a primary interface with clients as needed for specific clientrelationships, building and strengthening connections through acomprehensive understanding of their mission, goals, policies, needs andprogressSupports the practice by distilling and distributing project lessons,practice related knowledge and tools to the studio leaders so they can leadeffectivelyExercises skills of persuasion and negotiation on critical issues
Qualifications:Accredited professional degree in Architecture, Interior Design, relateddegree for respective field, or relevant years in education or experienceLicensure or certification in chosen field preferredTypically 20+ years of experience, including experience as an office orstudio leader with demonstrated success in both project work andtalent/resource developmentSignificant experience in the respective practice areaSustainable design accreditation preferredFamiliarity in the capability and benefits of design-related softwarepreferredFamiliarity in the functionality of VisionExperience in MS Office Suite, including Microsoft Project and MicrosoftTeams preferredProficiency in logistics management including connecting people and resourcesto the right place at the right timeSuccessful track record in directing and providing leadership for design teamsfrom business development presentations through developing strategy and designconceptsSuccessful track record in building, nurturing, and fostering new clientrelationshipsExcellent presentation skillsStrong leadership, organization, communication, and relationshipmanagement skillsStrong organizational skillsAbility to work closely with directors of the firm to promote aninter-disciplinar design approach and philosophy, and to facilitate itsadvancement across the firmAbility to manage team with diplomatic and collaborative leadership stylewhich puts value on relationships and collaboration, both internal andexternalAbility to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner bothverbally and in writingAbility to problem solve and apply innovative solutionsAbility to collaborate and encourage collaboration in a team environmentAbility to effectively meet deadlines at expected qualityTravel will be required
