Job Title: Head of IT
Overview: The Head of IT plays a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of the Information Technology department within the organization. This position requires a strategic leader who can align IT initiatives with business objectives, drive innovation, ensure the security and integrity of digital assets, and provide effective technological solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Team Management:
Recruit, train, mentor, and manage a high-performing IT team.
Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement within the IT department.
Provide guidance and support to team members to ensure successful project delivery.
Infrastructure and Operations:
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and systems.
Ensure the availability, scalability, and reliability of IT systems and services.
Implement best practices for IT operations, including monitoring, incident response, and disaster recovery.
Security and Compliance:
Develop and enforce IT security policies, procedures, and controls to protect digital assets and sensitive information.
Stay abreast of emerging threats and security technologies to mitigate risks effectively.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.
Technology Innovation:
Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to identify opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage.
Lead the implementation of new technologies, tools, and methodologies to drive business growth and efficiency.
Foster a culture of experimentation and learning within the IT department.
Vendor Management:
Manage relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
Negotiate contracts, SLAs, and pricing agreements to optimize value and mitigate risks.
Evaluate vendor performance and ensure alignment with organizational goals and standards.
Budget and Resource Management:
Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
Track and report on IT expenditures, variances, and ROI.
Identify opportunities to optimize IT spending and improve operational efficiency.
Data & Data Analytics Focus
The client wants someone that has worked and led data driven projects in their career.
Broad IT Focus. The client is looking for someone that has a broad knowledge base in IT, not just siloed in 1 area of technology. They are looking for someone that can wear multiple hats and be flexible as projects change.
experience with salesforce is a plus or nice to have.
client does prefer candidates that come from smaller environments.
communicator and collaborative mindset, good problem solver.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
Proven experience in a senior leadership role within IT, with a track record of strategic planning and execution.
Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, systems, and security principles.
Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
Experience managing IT budgets, vendors, and external partners.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, ITIL, PMP) are a plus.
