What will you be doing in your role?
You assist clients with removing barriers to class attendance by conducting follow up and communicating with clients’ case managers as appropriate.
You help clients download and access the online platform for their ESL class.
You refer clients to case management, employment, and other support services as needed, as well as community ESL classes when they can no longer attend.
You effectively document barrier removal, follow up and referrals in the agency database in a timely manner.
You help deliver books and class materials to clients as needed.
You are flexible with your tasks and time to help the team as needed.
You substitute teach for ESL classes as needed and create a fun, positive, welcoming and culturally sensitive learning environment
You conduct ESL classes and create a fun, positive, welcoming, and culturally sensitive learning environment as needed.
You understand what refugees have been through as well as their various cultural backgrounds, and work to meet their unique needs.
You work well with volunteers, as needed.
You plan effective lessons for refugee adults, including both literate and pre-literate students based on survival English needs as needed.
You meet your commitments and effectively manage your administrative duties.
You work collaboratively with other Refugee Education team members to support the overall goals of the team.
Are you the next ESL Support Specialist?
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field and one-year experience in teaching ESL, or a combination of education and experience preferred
Familiarity with refugee populations and their needs preferred
Good computer skills required
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English
Must have reliable transportation, a current Texas driver’s license

Full-Time position with an hourly rate of $19. Pay is determined by relevant experience, work history, education and internal equities.
