Position Summary
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, at the Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, is seeking a Pediatric Cardiologist with expertise in Interventional Cardiology to join its growing program. The Heart Center faculty includes a team of 18 full-time pediatric cardiologists, including sub-specialty expertise in Pediatric and Fetal Imaging, Electrophysiology, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiac Intensive Care, and Adult Congenital Cardiology. Heart Center staff also include 2 accomplished CV Surgeons. The Heart Center is proud to be part of the only freestanding quaternary care Children’s Hospital in New Orleans and Louisiana, and the top academic heart program in the state. Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor (non-tenure, clinical track), and will be determined by the candidate’s credentials and experience. The successful candidate must have demonstrated excellence in interventional cardiology. Incumbent on the candidate is continued development and growth in being part of a comprehensive state-of-the interventional cardiology program at Children’s Hospital.
Additional subspeciality care within the Heart Center includes expertise in Fontan management, home-monitoring, neurodevelopment, pulmonary hypertension, pediatric coronary artery disease, and heart failure. Currently, approximately 340 heart catheterizations (75% interventional) and 300 cardiothoracic surgeries, and 10,000 ambulatory visits are performed each year at Children’s Hospital New Orleans.
Children’s Hospital is a 247 bed quaternary-care teaching complex located in the historic and vibrant Uptown Area. It serves the entire State of Louisiana and the central Gulf Coast region. The hospital just completed a $300 million renovation and expansion which included the brand new 28 bed state of the art dedicated and combined acute care unit and cardiac intensive care unit, two new and dedicated cardiac operating rooms and two new and dedicated cardiac catheterization suites. Additional capital was spent on general infrastructure such that the Children’s Hospital buildings and campus is one of the most beautiful in the country. The hospital has recently recruited both a nationally-known pediatric cardiologist and pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon as the Heart Center’s Co-Directors.
