Organization: H0303 Public Art

Description: Develops and implements diverse and inclusive mission-centered education, engagement, and learning programs for Public Art of the University of Houston System (Public Art UHS). Leading Public Art UHS's efforts to provide meaningful experiences with art onsite and in the larger community, the position will work directly with the Director and Chief Curator to define and develop its strategies for education and public programs.

Creates, executes, manages and evaluates Public Art UHS education and public programs initiatives, encouraging new, diverse, multi-generational and broad audiences, strengthening participation, and fostering active learning, experimentation, and an inclusive worldview within and beyond the UHS.

Develops a yearly calendar of education and public programs in direct response to Public Art UHS's permanent collection at all UHS universities, its temporary public art program, and other exhibition projects, engaging contemporary issues and opening up the public art process to relevant communities.

Develops, expands, and enriches relationships across the diverse internal and external communities served by Public Art UHS, creating and implementing new models of cultural participation and mission-based educational programming.

Manages and further develops Public Art UHS's tour program, including leading tours, recruiting guest for tour guides, training staff, developing student tour leaders at all UHS universities.

Plays an outward-facing role in Public Art UHS education and public programs initiatives as well as recruits, trains, and supervises any necessary staff and volunteers.

Manages the education and public program's budget including the tracking of income and expenditures.

Collaborates with curatorial staff to produce Collection- and program-relevant pedagogical materials.

Establishes programmatic goals and key metrics in advance of implementation and monitors program effectiveness by gathering and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.

Collaborates with relevant UHS units to promote and build awareness on Public Art UHS's education and public programs among internal and external audiences.

Partners with UHS units and key partners to prepare, manage, and evaluate grants that support Public Art UHS's education and public programs.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Masters and 3 years experience.

Requires application of advanced principles, techniques and theory in a professional discipline or a thorough general business management knowledge. Knowledge of this level is typically obtained through a directly job-related Master's degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

Preferred: Master's degree in Art History, Arts Education or related field.

Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience. Preferred: minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
