About This Role
The Sales Manager promotes Oregon as a world-class leisure destination by implementing sales strategies to increase overnight leisure travel to Oregon’s many unique destinations. This role requires strong skill in building brand awareness in conjunction with an ability to create opportunities for strategic collaboration & relationship management. In this role, a successful candidate will develop the sales market across business-to-business, travel trade and direct consumer sales channels while creating critical partnerships in all markets - locally, domestically and even internationally.
Essential Duties
Build a long-term sales strategy in collaboration with the Director and cross-functional teams to increase direct sales, improve brand visibility and grow Travel Oregon market share.
Identify critical opportunities to build consumer marketing & sales in both domestic & international consumer markets.
Develop and implement the trade and trade media strategy in collaboration with the communications team
Manage multiple projects with multiple stakeholders simultaneously, requiring prioritization, flexibility, adaptability, and organization.
Recruit, hire, onboard and oversee Travel Oregon in-market sales representatives and global sales contractors.
Execute annual sales plans in partnership with direct vendors, contractors, and staff to ensure high performance and budget alignment.
Plan, execute & represent Travel Oregon through in-market travel - including sales trips, trade shows, consumer shows, speaking events, and conferences.
Consistently monitor the competitive landscape and create points of differentiation through sales & marketing tools like promotions with travel trade tour operators, client events, activations, and sponsorships in market to create destination awareness and sales.
Monitor and manage international and market-specific social media handles for destination awareness and stay up to date on new social trends and opportunities.
Engage Travel Oregon partners and key accounts to develop tour itineraries and packages and manage communication with internal and external partners on travel trade and programs.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field; additional years of work experience in a related field required in lieu of a degree
A minimum of 4 years experience in destination marketing, sales, advertising, public relations, or management/program management in increasingly challenging roles
Excellent track record developing brand awareness & sales strategies to develop business, create sales opportunity, drive business growth, and foster key relationships
Ability to use data & trends and apply them to strategic sales goals
Proven experience managing external stakeholders, workstreams, and interdepartmental teams effectively to produce and deliver desired outcomes.
Proven experience managing multiple projects with many stakeholders simultaneously, requiring prioritization, flexibility, adaptability, and organization
Excellent communication skills across written, verbal and digital platforms
Strong executive presence and ability to adapt & make quick decisions when needed
Ability to incorporate principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion into aligned strategies, interactions, and outcomes.
About Our Work Environment
This position is designated as hybrid. Business needs may require the employee to come into a designated workplace on a periodic basis. Our employees working in roles designated as hybrid or remote must reside in Oregon or the greater Portland metro area. Overnight travel, up to 20% of work time, is required in this position.

Compensation & Benefits
Starting Salary Range: $85,450.00 - $$102,550.00

Accrual of 15 days paid vacation plus 3 days personal business leave and 12 days paid

100% of health care premiums for core benefits (medical/dental/vision) for employee and family are paid by Travel Oregon

After six full months of employment, participation in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), including generous Travel Oregon contributions with no employee match required; optional participation in a 403(b) account (Oregon Savings Growth Plan) is also available.
