A Technical Sales Executive works to improve an organization’s market position and achieve financial growth. This person defines long-term organizational strategic goals, builds key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, negotiates and closes business deals and maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions. It is their job to work with the internal team, and other managers within the organization to increase sales opportunities and maximize revenue. To achieve this, they need to find potential new customers, present to them, ultimately convert them into clients, and continue to grow business in the future. Technical Sales Executives will also help manage existing clients and ensure they stay satisfied and positive. They call on clients, often being required to make technical presentations on solutions and services that meet or predict their clients’ future needs. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and maintain information on competitive position for each assigned account and make recommendations to improve the competitive posture.
Monitor and report on market, product, customer trends and competitive activity
Develop and implement strategic account plans consistent with DNOW’s sales strategies and value proposition
Manage and lead price negotiations and secure the necessary approvals
Build multi-level relationships and contacts within your accounts
Develop customer proposals and develop new growth and product/service opportunities
Provide clients with technical assistance, selling products best suited to their application
Assist in developing customer product packages, leading customer training sessions (lunch and learns) and resolving customer concerns relative to product performance
Provide customer and market specific intelligence to assist in quotations and material requirements for projects resulting in the preparation of quotes offering competitive pricing and deliveries
Follow-up with customers on the wins and losses of quotes. Share information on pricing and market conditions to determine reasons for receiving or losing a quote.
Manage and coordinate customer information with field sales staff and Management
Opportunity to improve and strengthen the current Marketing Program relating to literature, branding, etc.
Initiating sales visits and conducting field surveys and presentations, including related travel.
Meeting agreed upon sales targets set out by the management team.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advance degree preferred.
Astute business person with a good understanding of profitability and ROCE
Proven high-level sales, sales management and marketing skills
Excellent communication (oral and written), presentation and documentation skills
Microsoft Office skills
Aggressive, goal-oriented, self-starter with excellent time management skills
Strategic thinker, yet hands-on and tactical
Adept at team dynamics and results-focused, both internally and externally
Positive, optimistic personality
