Objectives of the role:

•Provide financial leadership by managing the general accounting, cash, payroll and T&E activities of the organization to ensure accurate and timely compliance with all internal and external reporting requirements

•Demonstrates commitment to attracting, developing, and mentor accounting staff to build their professional career and maximize potential

•Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement mind-set and leading change within the department

•Must demonstrate the ability to implement new concepts, ideas, processes, and remediate Sox deficiencies as needed.

•Must have the ability to embrace and assume ownership of various processes and reports.

•Demonstrate attention to detail, superior organizational and project management skills, and exceptional communication skills are important

Key Responsibilities:

•A key member of the Fanatics Accounting Shared Services Record To Report team, this position is responsible for supervising the recording of transactions and reconciliations related to cash, general accounting, and payroll for all of Fanatics lines of business. This position has 3 direct reports with an overall team of 11.

•Monthly, reviewing FloQast to ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are properly assigned, prepared timely and properly prepared with sufficient supporting detail.

• Ensures the general accounting team adheres to the monthly closing calendar deadlines

•Responsible for month-end journal entry approvals; balance sheet reconciliation review and approval as well as assigned balance sheet reconciliations.

•Oversees the monthly accounting activities for the two not-for-profit Fanatics foundations; serve the primary point of contact for accounting matters to the Executive Director of the foundations, and serve as audit liaison with external accounting firm on annual audits.

•Review and coordinate internal and external audit requests including interim testing as well as year-end PBC’s

•Prepare SOP’s as needed with continuous monitoring that the documents are kept current

•Ensures Sox financial controls in place are operating effectively and makes improvements where needed; recognizes if procedures are not followed and takes corrective action

•Partner with internal and external auditors to maintain a strong internal control environment overall financial transactions and processes, and regularly monitor and assess risks

•Demonstrate technical expertise and business acumen in the application of GAAP

•Closely monitors the productivity of accounting staff to ensure targets are met, develops appropriate key performance measurements, and provides the necessary coaching, development, and training support to ensure the accounting team is actively engaged and operating at a high-performance level.

•Build bench strength, develop talent, and preparing the organization for long-term growth (scale-up)

• Blend of public accounting experience a plus or relevant industry experience

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following credentials and competencies:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related field required; advanced degree in accounting or finance a plus

• CPA designation a major plus

• 8+ years’ accounting experience leading an accounting team with a combination of public and private accounting background

• Solid foundation in GAAP, previous experience in accounting/audit/finance experience very desirable

•Has a passion for problem solving; must be able to quickly process fact patterns, draw a conclusion and take action

•Exceptionally organized, but with the capacity to pivot as business needs arise. Must be an excellent communicator with the ability to provide clear instruction, direction and expectations.

•Excellent customer service skills with the ability to work with multiple departments, at all levels of the organization

•Naturally inquisitive, curious in seeking out information for understanding and decision making

•Strong attention to detail with high degree of accuracy while working in a very fast paced environment

•Highly skilled at manipulating large volumes of transactions; an expert in balance sheet reconciliation process and review.

•Broad work experience across multiple industries with knowledge of best practices related to general accounting, cash and payroll

•Not-for-profit accounting experience with audits is highly desirable

• Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel – experience in Pivot Tables and VLookups are a +

• Oracle Fusion, FloQast, Concur experience a +
