Introduction
The\rMaryland Department of Labor Office of General Services is currently searching\rfor a qualified candidate to fill the position of Director of the MDOL Office\rof General Services. The Director will oversee all aspects of the agency's\rbuilding facilities to ensure efficient operations. This role will require\rclose coordination with various stakeholders, including the building\rmaintenance team, vendors, and internal and external agency staff. The Director\rwill be responsible for overseeing facility maintenance, office space\rlogistics, telecommunications, agency mailroom operations, fleet management,\rand records administration. Above all, the Director of MDOL General Services\rwill be responsible for maintaining a safe and functional workplace for\rinternal staff and stakeholders.\r

Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to provide executive management and direction for the Office of General Services (OGS), a support program, which provides a broad scope of services for all divisions of the Department of Labor. OGS services encompass support in the following areas: building security, maintenance, MDEM representation and participation, telecommunications management, leasing management, mail operations, fleet management, energy conservation and recycling, emergency operations management, fixed asset, supply, records and forms management.\rThis position relates to the agency’s mission in that it provides consistent and dependable support for Labor employees who, through their efforts, provide economic stability to the citizens of Maryland.\r
POSITION DUTIES
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:\r\r\r\r Serves as the primary\r contact for building management inquiries. \r Ensures the safety and\r maintenance of the Maryland Department of Labor's (MDOL) work environment.\r This includes monitoring the cleanliness and safety of both interior and\r exterior areas, such as offices, parking lots, and outdoor spaces. \r Responsible for\r coordinating with the Office of General Services staff regarding\r maintenance requests, and informing leadership and management of any emergency\r maintenance issues that arise. \r Ensure regular\r inspections and maintenance of building systems, such as HVAC, plumbing,\r and electrical, to maintain a safe working environment. Conduct periodic\r evaluations of facility operations and implement improvements as needed to\r ensure effective space management, including coordinating office space\r planning and furniture moves to accommodate changing needs. \r Oversees the management\r of inventory of furniture and equipment, including procurement and\r disposal as necessary. \r Develop and maintain\r emergency response plans, including fire evacuation procedures and safety\r protocols. Conduct regular fire alarm tests and drills with building\r management, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. \r Oversees the retention\r policies and disposal of state property procedures.\r Works in partnership with\r the agency's Office of Budget for any facility needs, and perform other\r related duties as assigned to meet organizational needs and objectives.\r\r\r\r
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.\r\r\rExperience: A minimum of five years of experience performing facility management work. Three years’ experience of supervising a team or an organization.\r\r\rNotes:\r1.\tAdditional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required or preferred education.\r2.\tCandidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.\r
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
